My name is Steve Pinchbeck and I have been going by the online username of Predatron since late 2003. I live with my wife Diane in the glorious UK county of Cornwall that is surrounded on three sides by the sea and is an amazing place that feeds my creative inspirations. I divide my time up making 3D models, designing fabric patterns, writing, painting or drawing and I often will use where I am fortunate to live to feed my creativity.
I started dabbling with 3D art late in 2003 and I soon started making my own 3D content, eventual ending up selling at such places as Renderosity and DAZ3D.
I build my 3D models in 3DS Max, Blender and Zbrush. Other notable progams I use on a day to day basis are Adobe Substance 3D, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate and Marvellous Designer.
Generally my 3D model work is based in the fantasy genre and in particular the works of J. R. R. Tolkien. It’s a world I get completely lost in and it certainly has me totally consumed with countless ideas with stories and artworks of elves, wizard and trolls. But having said all that I can get just excited building future worlds set on distant planets or grimy dystopian cities, as well as subject matter found in every day situations.
In 2021 I started designing fabric patterns which have so far been based on photographs taken in and around Cornwall. I then digitally manipulate each photo to give a more painterly effect and make them all tileable. My designs are all available at https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/predatron
Other interests away from the computer comprise of playing guitar (in a fashion!), writing books and childrens stories, drawing, exploring Cornwall and cooking, especially Italian food as well as developing recipes for a future Cornish inspired cookbook.
Thanks for visiting my little slice of fantastical indulgences.
